2024 I have been diagnosed with breast cancer and am currently undergoing chemotherapy.
Because most days I am the sole employee running the shop and business, I’ve had to scale back business and cannot have regular hours for the shop right now.
It is my deep hope that I can keep Acanthus Floral Art alive, while I am working to stay alive, because the business and my clients mean so much to me. With help, I will continue to deliver to my weekly and monthly clients.
I really appreciate all the support and flexibility people have already been giving me, and even though this is tough, don’t worry, I’m still taking time to stop and smell the roses (and hyacinth, and freesia, and chocolate cosmos, and gardenias).
Here is a link to a fundraiser my daughter created. Please DO NOT feel like you have to contribute. Your loyalty over the years and patience for the next few months is contribution enough!
Sincerely, Jodi Irwin
What Our Name Means:
Acanthus is a beautiful plant with lavish, scrolling leaves that is indigenous to the Mediterranean. The acanthus plant has inspired artists and architects for millennia. It produces small white or purple flowers, but it is the leaves, not the flowers, that have historically attracted the most attention due to their abundant, long, dark-green, arching foliage.
The acanthus appeared for the first time in the arts in ancient Greece. Symbolic for art, it was often chosen for its decorative purposes and is one of the most used elements in architecture.
We chose this name because the acanthus plant is a symbolic link to longevity, creativity and intricate attention to detail, and indicative of the art that Acanthus Floral Art creates.
